Rathinavani Community Radio 90.8 MHz was launched in May 2013 by the Rathinam Group of Institutions, Coimbatore, and stands as a pioneering platform dedicated to social service through the transformative power of voice and participation. It isGuided by the motto “A Voice for the Voiceless,” the station has grown into a hub of education, culture, awareness, and empowerment, reaching diverse audiences ranging from students to rural communities.

Over the years, Rathinavani has transcended the role of a conventional radio station, which has evolved into a social movement that unites people, ideas, and institutions in the pursuit of meaningful change. Its central mission is to amplify local voices, preserve cultural identity, and serve as a bridge between academia and society at large.

The station broadcasts in both Tamil and English, offering participatory programming that is informative, engaging, and socially relevant. Its diverse content spans across education and career guidance, health and wellness, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, cultural heritage, and community involvement.

Every program is designed with inclusivity at its core, providing space for citizens, students, self-help groups, and NGOs to share their stories, perspectives, and solutions. Behind every successful broadcast of Rathinavani Community Radio lies a passionate team of dedicated individuals united by a shared vision. At the helm is Station Director Dr J. Mahendran, a visionary leader who has been instrumental in defining the station’s mission and strengthening its impact on community development. Supporting him are faculty coordinators and media professionals who mentor student broadcasters and nurture the next generation of media practitioners. . Equally vital are the volunteers, community representatives, and NGOs who actively co-create content, ensuring the representation of diverse voices and perspectives.
