Education plays an important role in the all-round development of human being. India, at present, is recognized as one of the youngest nation in the world with over 50% of the population under the age of 30 years. It is estimated that by about 2025, India will have 25% of the world’s total workforce. In order to harness the full demographic dividend, India need an educational system which is of high quality, affordable, flexible and relevant to the individuals, economy and to the society as a whole.

The Rathinam Community College, as envisaged, will be accessible to a large number of individuals of the community, offer low cost and high quality education locally, that encompasses both skills development as well as traditional coursework, thereby providing opportunities to the learners to move directly to the employment sector or move into higher education. It provides a flexible and open education system which also caters to community-based life-long learning needs.

About Our Dean

Prof. Dr. V. Raman is a Dean and Senior Professor of Visual Communications of Rathinam College of Arts and Science and Rathinam Community College. He has a combined work experience of more than thirty years in industry and academia. His teaching and research areas are Film & Broadcasting Production, Multimedia & Communication, Distance learning and Tamil Computing.

Prior to joining in this college, he had been taught various Film and Television subjects including Film & Broadcast Production, Cinematography, Screen Play writing, etc., in Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia, Film and Television Institute of Tamilnadu (FTIT), Chennai, Film and Television Arts Academy, Chennai and various colleges in Tamilnadu.

Apart from that he had been active in the film and television industry in India, producing television serials and films, mainly for India’s bustling satellite channels and for South Indian Film industry. Many of the film and television productions he had been involved in as Creative Director, scriptwriter, director, and editor, have been relayed not only in India, but also on satellite channels in more than 60 countries.

He was served as committee member (Senate Member of UiTM) for TV UiTM, which is a demand on view education television and in charge for Television Production Studio. He also expert of MCP (Multicamera Production) and involved to setup new television studio in UiTM. Apart from these he was involved in Multimedia Programme Production. He also Web Master for Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, UiTM.
