The department of Mathematics was established in the year 2010 offering   B.Sc   Mathematics at the undergraduate level and  M.Sc  Mathematics was introduced in the year 2016 at the Post Graduate level. We are one of the organs to all other neighboring departments like Commerce, Computer science, corporate secretaryship, Commerce with computer application and Physics. We offering both Mathematics and Statistics as an allied paper for all the above disciplines.

B.Sc Mathematics course provides a platform to understand the fundamental concepts, develop logical, analytical, heuristic, lateral thinking skills, and apply mathematical techniques in various spheres of life. The multidisciplinary and application-oriented curriculum caters to students with a specific interest in Mathematics, Computer Science.

The Department hosts well qualified and experienced faculty members who have an incalculable thrust towards Mathematics. The knowledge of teaches and also teaching curricula is enhanced through the faculty participation in seminars, guest lectures, and FDP. In order to ease the transition between school and college as well as to familiarize students with the preliminaries of mathematics, the department also provides Bridge courses. It contributes to the placement of students by conducting Bank coaching classes and Numerical Aptitude classes. The department conducts various guest lectures thereby exposing students to eminent personalities in the field of Mathematics.

The aim of the Department is to encourage sincerity, integrity, hard work, discipline, quality, consciousness, and social responsibility of the students.

Ramanujan Club:

In our department, we established the Ramanujan  Club. The students participate in this activity eagerly.

Internet facility

The technical campus has dedicated internet connectivity with 8 Mbps broadband connectivity available 24X7 to the students and staff.

Department Library

The college has a well-stacked library with the latest editions of books, Non-Book materials, Newspapers, and periodicals in the fields of Arts, Science, Computer Science, etc. The library has computers with internet facilities to access the online resources viz., Inflibnet, Delnet, e-ShodhSindhu, Shodhganga are provided The library is fully computerized with barcoding technology and OPAC facility. The library is available 24×7.

Library Open Access:

All the library members have partial open access to library documents. This facility is granted to library members to encourage their reading habits and promote maximum use of library documents.

Library Resources

The library having 4752 titles and 10152 volumes including references and textbooks. Books are being arranged on open access shelves for easy search and retrieval purposes.

Reference Collection

While most of the books that are available in the library can be issued by the students or faculty, some of the books are kept exclusively for reference purposes. The reference books can be photocopied.

Textbooks Collection

Textbooks for undergraduate courses are arranged in a separate area. Since only a limited number of copies are available for each individual title, students are encouraged to buy their own textbooks.

Light Reading Collection

The Library also having an impressive number of light reading collections that include literature, self-development books, and Competitive Examinations Books for improving the reading habits, especially, among the students.

News Paper Collection

The library has subscribed newspapers both in English and Tamil and Telugu languages so that the students can read as per their comfort.

Periodicals

The library has been subscribing to a good number of periodicals to satisfy the academic and reference needs of both students and faculty. At present, the library is subscribing to 60 periodicals.

Library Services

Library provides photocopying services to the faculty and students.
Faculty and students can retrieve online information relating to all academic activities from the dedicated terminals situated in the library under the digital library programme.

We can proudly say that the students are Manusurya.S &  Kanimozhi. K  from the Ramanujan club has participated in the event “Infinite Learners-19” in KGCAS and won the I Prize with a cash award of Rs. 1000/-

RAMFEST

1.Our II-B.Sc Mathematics student N.Priyadharshini participated in a competition “Flash on” and won I prize at Sree Ramu College of Arts and Science on 6th September 2018.

2.The student Sowmiya from I-B.Sc Mathematics took part in a dance competition on 6th September 2018 at Sree Ramu college of arts and Science and won the I prize.

Our students Kavitha. K & Lavanya. P participated in a competition “MindTwister” and won the II prize at Dr.SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts and Science on 4th January 2017.

Consumer Day

The student Haritha & Ajitha from I-B.Sc Mathematics  Won the I & II prize in an ESSAY  writing competition on 31st October 2017 on Consumer day conducted by Tamil Nadu Government.
