Co-Curricular Activities

The Department of Biotechnology of Rathinam college of arts and science is an active scientific group and the activities of the department are planned and executed by the students with the guidance and support of the staff members. The department regularly organizes special lectures by eminent scientists and industrialists from India and abroad. Many seminars, symposia, conferences, and workshops are regularly organized in the department to expose the students to the latest developments in the subject area. The students are also taken to leading industries and laboratories on field trips and study tours. Webinars with Eminent scientists from abroad as the speaker are conducted regularly in our Department. This also expands the exposure level of our students and allows them to know the kind of research in laboratories abroad.

Outreach Activities

National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) are part of the curriculum in the undergraduate courses and the students choose one of these to carry out service-oriented activities. As part of the outreach activities, the students organize medical camps, test the blood groups of members of the society, and conduct social awareness cleaning campaigns in the villages.

Placements

For the placement, we guide students for the interview vocally as well as mentally. We also guide them for each step to get successfully placed on campus. We also conduct tests and different programs two years before the course completion to groom students for placement.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The salient findings of the research activities of the department are published in leading peer-reviewed journals and students have participated and presented in various international and national conferences and other scientific meets.
