The B.Com. Financial Services with US CPA, offered by the Department of Commerce,
Rathinam College of Arts and Science, is a prestigious undergraduate program that integrates
commerce education with the globally recognized US Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
credential. Often referred to as the "black belt" in accounting, the CPA is the U.S. equivalent of
the Indian Chartered Accountant (CA) and is widely respected for its emphasis on global
financial reporting, taxation, auditing, and strategic business management.
By integrating CPA preparation into the B.Com. program, this course ensures that students
develop a strong foundation in accounting, finance, and business law while preparing for the
four-part CPA exam:
a) Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR)
b) Auditing & Attestation (AUD)
c) Regulation (REG)
d) Business Environment & Concepts (BEC)
The structured curriculum ensures that students are exam-ready before graduation, giving them a
competitive edge in placements, particularly with the Big Four accounting firms. Graduates can
pursue careers with public accounting firms and multinational corporations (MNCs) in India or
leverage their CPA qualification for job opportunities in the U.S.
The program is offered in collaboration with Miles Education, the leading and largest US CPA
