Introduction

A science dealing with the pre-hospital emergency services is called Paramedical science. Major areas where paramedical science comes to play are spinal injury management, obstetrics, management of burns, and evaluation of the general accident. Paramedical science deals with emergency medical care, even before a doctor plays his/ her part. Sometimes, paramedical science is termed as the backbone of medical science as a right diagnosis of any disease is required to prevent fatal diseases. Hence, medical science couldn’t work properly without the help of paramedical science.

In order to avail the medical facilities, people are highly dependent on a qualified technician who can handle the medical equipment that can be useful in the detection of the disease. Paramedical science helps in providing the right training for satisfying the pre-medical requirements of a patient.

Molecular Diagnostics

Aim of the Program

The rise of molecular biology has revolutionized the diagnosis and treatment of many different diseases. Molecular diagnostics have become an essential part of investigations required in providing optimal care and has become an important tool for the healthcare provider in making the right decision. It also gives insights into the pathogenesis and prognosis of various diseases. Rapid technological advances have helped to increase the speed and performance of various molecular assays thereby reducing turnaround time, in turn translating to providing better clinical services. With the increase in applications of molecular diagnostics to clinical services, our country has seen a sudden spurt of molecular labs. However, this has highlighted an acute shortage of trained laboratory personnel who can carry out molecular assays in diagnostic mode. To address this issue, we have initiated this program to train individuals who are likely to take up this challenge or who are already involved in molecular work. We hope to conduct this course annually. This will not only help to train personnel in this niche area of diagnostics but will also help to form a network of individuals involved in molecular diagnostics, as the faculty involved in this workshop will continue to interact with the participants and help them to establish molecular diagnostic services at their institution.
