The Department of Commerce-II was started in 2001. Accommodating more than 678 students, the department enrolls the students to the field of undergraduate Course of B.Com., B.Com (ACCA) & B.Com (PA) B.Com with (CA) Post Graduate of M.Com (CA) Apart from offering M.Phil and Ph.D. courses Full time and Part-time in commerce and different domain specialized areas like Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Accounting, and International Business, etc.

Department of Commerce-II signed MoU with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) it is a global professional accounting body. Acclaimed courses like B.Com ACCA (UK), Professional accounting embedded with CIMA (UK).

B.COM – The Programme Bachelor of Commerce was started in the year 2010 which is designed to equip students with in-depth understanding and working knowledge of various disciplines like accounting, finance, marketing, and human resources by offering a comprehensive curriculum. The three-year undergraduate degree programme is divided into six semesters and is designed as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) model curriculum prescribed by the UGC. The programme also encompasses building an elevation to compete to accumulate knowledge and understanding of the changing global economic environment.

B.COM PA– The Programme Bachelor of Commerce with Professional Accounting was introduced in the year 2014which has been designed to create accounting and finance professionals. The three-year undergraduate degree programme is divided into six semesters and is designed as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) model curriculum prescribed by the UGC. There are many career opportunities in the corporate arena and it is one of the topmost career selection made by the students which facilitate them to take up these programmes concurrently.

B.COM ACCA–The Programme B.Com integrated with ACCA was started in the year 2017. It is a 3year undergraduate program that has been designed in collaboration with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), UK, and the knowledge partner of  International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC), UK. This programme is integrated with fundamental papers are divided into three levels: Knowledge, Skills & Professional and also  ACCA qualified professionals which provides high global employability opportunities in the field of Accounting & Finance like Auditing, Banking, and Financial Institutions.

M.COM (CA)The programme Master of Commerce was introduced in the year 2017 which stand for the strengths in the regulation of Accounting and Finance and Business Management to provide students with advanced skills and knowledge to be competent for positions in the private and public sector depending on the specialization they choose. The two-year postgraduate degree programme is divided into four semesters and is designed as per the model curriculum prescribed by the UGC. The programme makes use of students to procure knowledge & skills and paves the path for them to achieve their academic objectives.

Infrastructure & Facilities

Classrooms

The classrooms are equipped with multimedia and audio-visual equipment to facilitate effective teaching-learning. They are designed to promote effective interaction between the faculty and the students.

IT Infrastructure

The college has a state-of-the-art, well equipped contemporary computer lab facility with-wide LAN and WAN network facility all interconnected with 150Mbps Wi-Fi Net connectivity all over the campus. Every workplace like classrooms, conference hall faculty rooms, computer labs, library, administrative offices, and Cafeterias, has network connectivity with internet with open network access. The campus is the central Hub for Information Technology enabled services which provide connectivity to various organizations.  computer labs with more than 250 high-end computer systems with TFT monitors. Each system is installed with the latest multi-user operating system and antivirus software. The college-wide Wi-Fi network provides internet access to the students at their own convenience.

Language Lab

To expose the students to a variety of self-instructional, learner-friendly modes of linguistic knowledge and a language laboratory has been set up. It enables students to learn better pronunciation over stress on word accent, intonation & rhythm.

Library

The library is an influencing center of resources that create knowledge. Rathinam Institutions has a well-equipped library with an enormous collection. The library resource center is fully automated. It has a collection of over 19,357 books. It subscribes to about 100 reputed national, international journals and magazines. In addition, the library also subscribes to the INFLIBNET, DELL NET, INFO-NET, and KIMBUS resources that have access to over 2000 e-journals, e-books. It also has a very good collection of books for various entrances, competitive examinations. The library has implemented the latest technologies for quick processing. It is computerized by using a user- friendly library software and bar-code scanners.

Placement:

The department of commerce B.Com and B.Com with professional Accounting have completed their final year placement drive during the academic year 2017-2018.  Multiple numbers of companies have participated in our campus recruitment drive, many of our students have got selected in various reputed companies like Cognizant (CTS), Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for different positions like Accounting executives, Customer support executives, Sales executives, and Financial analysts. From the batch 2017-2018, out of 55 placement registered students, 40 students have got placed and utilized their career opportunities.

In the academic year 2017-2018, the placement drives helps to ensure that the young talent of the institution expands its horizon in the professional world. Some of the major organizations are CTS, Amazon, Tech Mahindra, Infosys-IT, KGISL, HDFC Life, etc. 50 students are admitted for B.Com. Out of 50, 47 students are registered for the placement and 45 got placed in the topmost companies. 1student involved in the business, 1 student involved in higher studies. In the year 2017-2018, 51 students are admitted for B.Com (PA) Out of 51, 48 students are registered for the placement in the year and 44 has got placed in the various companies. 2 students are involved in the business, 2 students are in higher studies. Students who have got selected are placed under top-level MNC’s like Wipro, IBM, TCS, VWR. The Placement Cell of the institution helps students to prepare for interviews. The students are exposed to events and workshops to enhance their skills, which helps them prepare for the professional world.

In the year 2018-2019, 80 students are admitted for B.Com. Out of 80, 75 students registered for the placement, and 73 got placed in the year. 4 students are involved in the business, 1 student pursuing his higher studies. Students are placed under the top-level companies and placed with the high-level package. Top Companies have come for the placement selection. Good to start the carrier through the placement. The students get placed in the top best IT and NON – IT Companies. In the year 2018-2019, 54 students are admitted for B.Com (PA).  Out of 54, 52are students are registered for the placement in the year and 49 got placed. 52 students are pursuing their higher studies. Students are placed under the topmost companies. like Wipro, TCS, COGNIZANT, HDFC BANK, ICICI BANK.

In the year 2019-2020, 104 students are admitted for the B.Com course. Out of 104, 95 students are registered for the placement and 90 got placed in the top-level companies. 2 students are pursuing their higher studies, 3 students are involved in the business. In the year 2019-2020, 52 students are admitted for B.Com (PA). Out of 52, 44 students are registered and got placed in the year. 5 students are pursuing their higher studies and 3 students are involved in the business. Students are placed under the top-level MNC’s like KGISL, AXIS BANK, EFFITRAC, FOCUS EDUMATICS.

Guest Lecture:

  • In the academic year, 2016-2017 department of commerce has conducted 12 guest lecture programmes. The resource persons were from various industries, corporate bodies, accounting auditing firms. They delivered key insights on curriculum-based and foresight on real working experience in their sectors.
  • In the academic year, 2017-2018 department of commerce has conducted 16 guest lecture programmes from financial education and topmost industries. The students are benefited from guest lecturers to gain practical knowledge of industrial real expose
  • In the year 2018-2019 department of commerce conducted  46 guest lectures on the academic year.  The various eminent guests from ISDC –   ACCA qualified auditors to deliver their preparations of accounting statements and IFRS – IAS standards in the global audit standards
  • In the year 2019-2020 department of commerce conducted 59 guest lectures. The resource persons were from different industries, corporate bodies, IFRS, and ACCA auditing firms. They delivered a keynote address on  curriculum-based  skill development lectures
  • In the year 2020-2021 department of commerce conducted 17 guest lectures. They delivered a keynote address on curriculum-based skill development lectures and industry real-life work practices

Conference:

In the academic year, 2016 the department of commerce has conducted International Conference on Re-Engineering Business Concepts and Rapid changes in worldwide business patterns.

An international conference with the title of E-Business Strategies and opportunities for sustainable growth a global perspective association with ISDC (International Skill Development Corporation) and ISC (Logistics skill council).

  • Every year Department of Commerce-II organizing an international conference, it has provided a wonderful platform for Research in commerce and management and also in academic forums.
